Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it combines some of my favorite things: candy, makeup and dress up! I'm disappointed in myself this year though because I really didn't get to buy or make a costume, but I improvised.

  Here's my costume:

I can post a tutorial if anyone wants it. The hardest part was honestly the nose and I did 3 different ones before I was happy with it.
I want to see all your costumes and makeup so please post them below!

New from Diamond Candles

Diamond candles has a whole new line, classic candles. For those who don't care about finding the hidden gems in their candles, you can now enjoy diamond candle scents in traditional candles. These 12 oz ringless candles are $17.95 compared to their 21 oz ring candles at $24.95. Personally I love the new size, but not the price. Diamond Candles had sent out a survey asking it's customers what they wanted to see and this was an option, though I'm not a fan. For me a lot of the fun is finding my little sparkly surprise, whether it's serious bling or just costume jewelry, the surprise is what makes them special.

What do you think of these new candles?

$15 Diamond Candles plus 10% off

Right now the Candy Corn Diamond Candle is only $14.95! I know it's last minute for Halloween, but this is a great deal. I just bought one with 10% off and I only paid $17.95 with shipping.
The 10% off is good sitewide.
Have a happy Halloween everyone!

Happy Halloween and Happy Holidays from Lush

As you all know by now I am obsessed with Lush. And my favorite time of year is here, all of the pretty sparkly limited edition things are already out. I popped into Lush the other day and picked up a couple of goodies. I'll probably wait until the day after Christmas to do the majority of my "holiday" shopping, because that's when Lush has their only sale of the year. They still have their Halloween goodies out, so I highly recommend picking up some of those.
I didn't get the pumpkin bubble bar, but I did get Lord of Misrule.
Description from Lush:
Inspired by the ruler of the Pagan Feast of Fools, Lord of Misrule brings mischievous revelry to the tub with a spicy herbal blend of patchouli and black pepper oil. As it slowly froths in the water, hypnotic swirling silver luster is released and the deep green exterior soon gives way to a rich, wine-colored center. Just like at the Feast of Fools, when the wine begins flowing, the revelry really begins! Popping candies fizz and crackle, creating a world of magic and mischief right before your eyes.
Can you see why I couldn't resist?
I also got a new holiday bath melt. I've been wanting to try the bath melts for a while and this seemed like the perfect one. Star Light, Star Bright is an amazingly bright and shiny silver star. It immediately reminded me of both Madonna and for some reason Life Size... nobody else? Anyway...
These bath melts are supposed to be moisturizing and luxurious and I can't wait to try this one.
Description from Lush:
Star Light, Star Bright is a gorgeous new invention this holiday season! Crush this shimmering star under running water and watch as your bath turns a deep, calming turquoise and the silvery luster spreads to create a magical, shimmering trail of starlight. Organic shea butter and extra virgin coconut oil leave your skin feeling oh-so-soft, while the zesty ginger, lavender and lime oil fragrance inspires imagination and positivity. Go ahead – make a wish upon this star!
I got to try the new Celebrate lotion (more Madonna) and LOVED it, but it's a little pricey at $29.95 for the 7.7 oz pot. It's got a bright citrusy scent and feels great, but I just couldn't this week. Maybe next time.
I also grabbed a few long time favorites, but I'll be covering the holiday products as they roll in (and as I get them.)
What's your favorite Lush holiday product?

$1 Sephora Haul!!

I got $347 of merchandise from Sephora for a dollar... yes one dollar. Wanna know how? Keep reading.
First the goods!

First up is the Sephora Favorites Lash Stash, an 11 piece set which includes some full and some half size mascaras:  Sephora Collection, Tarte, Benefit They’re Real, Lancôme Hypnôse Drama, BUXOM Lash, Clinique High Impact, YSL Babydoll, Blinc, Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant, and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and a set of Sephora Collection Celebrity Lashes.
This is a $145 value for $45 and is amazing! Two are truly full size and the others are half-sized or more.

Next up is the Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip This 16 piece set is ridiculous and includes: bareMinerals ® Marvelous Moxie™ Lipstick in Never Say Never, Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Pomegranate, BUXOM® Full-Bodied™ Lip Stick in Menance, BUXOM® Full-Bodied™ Lip Cream in White Russian, Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon, Kat Von D in Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi, Kat Von D Foiled Love Lipstick in Adora, Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Bare Naked, Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural N45, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Strumpet, Smashbox Be Lengendary Lipstick in Nylon Nude, Smashbox Lip Gloss in Pout, Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Sonya, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lip Color in Dolce, Tarte Glmazon™ Pure Performance 12-Hour Lipstick in Inspired, and Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lip Cream in Marshmallow Bunny.
This set is a $209 value for $59, again crazy good deal. 4 of these are full sized and all but 2 are about half size.

What a mouthful indeed!

Last but not least is Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Raindrops. This gorgeous blue based grey has just the slightest little gorgeous bits of shimmer, reminiscent of, you guessed it, raindrops. It was a contest winner and limited edition. I've heard that when it first sold out, bottles were $100 on eBay. Glad to get my hands on it! It applies like butter like all Illamasqua shades. This was $17.

I split my order in 2 and got free shipping for both as well as 3 samples and a deluxe sample free with each for a total of 8 samples. They also threw in a free sample card of Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb. For the deluxe Stila CC Cream sample use code STILACC, there are also a few other codes on the Sephora website. The eye makeup remover code seems to be gone for now though.

So I know you're all still wondering, how did I get all this for $1? One word: Viggle. I am a Viggle fiend! It is a free app that you can use while watching television. You check into shows and earn a point per minute. There are also check in bonuses, Viggle live, and MyGuy. All of these points can be traded in for gift cards to Sephora, Best Buy, Royal Caribbean and more! My mother also uses the app and graciously gave me some gift cards as well. I got $120 of Sephora gift cards completely free. The app is available for Apple and Android and costs absolutely nothing.

I am also very fond of Swagbucks, another free service where you can redeem your points for gift cards and merch as well. You use it as a search engine and are rewarded for searches at random. There are also games, surveys, polls, tasks and videos. I also love that you can shop your favorite websites (including www.Sephora.com) to earn even more points. There is even the Swagbucks TV app, also available for Apple and Android and this app is also free!

Use my link here to be rewarded with bonus points!

It can take a little bit of time, but with patience you can earn a lot of points and save a lot of money! The other advice I have is to sample any products you can in store, which helps eliminate wasteful purchases and things you won't use. Invest in good products that work and will last and you will spend less. Also, shop sales, deals and bundles! I have wanted to try many of the products in these kits for a long time, but I won't commit to a product I don't love. These sets give me a curated collection of things I've wanted to try and the ability to make sure I love them. I once bought my mother the Sephora Favorites Lash Stash To Go, which was essentially a mini version of this lash kit. Why? Because it was a great deal, my mother is a mascara fiend, AND most importantly, it also came with a certificate to get a full size of any of the mascaras in the collection. It basically let her try 5 mascaras without commitment, before she chose a new one, to ensure she loved it without having to buy them all.

I know this post was long, but I hope it was helpful and that you are able to get lots of free gift cards as well!

Let me know in the comments what services you've used and what great deals you've gotten!

Love with Food October Box

I've tried quite a few of the Happy Squeeze products and while the taste is good, I'm still getting used to the texture.
Kind bars are amazing, need I say more?
I've seen Glee gum around before and never tried it. It's pretty good, but like many others, the flavor doesn't last as long as I'd hope.
Dang could not have a better name... dang these are good. I don't love coconut, I have to be in the mood for it, but these are delicious little coconut chips that would probably make a great dessert topping.
The Pizzelle crisps are really great, more of a cocoa flavor than a sweet chocolate and I like that.
The candies are good, I got blood orange and cinnamon anjou pear which unexpected and great flavors.
I haven't tried the Caveman Cookies yet and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the Pixo pearls.

October NatureBox

I'm excited to try the Banana Bread Granola and want to try to come up with a good recipe for it. The Southern BBQ Sunflower Kernels are okay. The flavor is good, but I hate shelled kernels, personal preference, but I really don't like sunflower seeds without the shell. I'm a HUGE fan of the Lemon Pucker Pistachios and I'm happy to see them back! I expected to love the Granny Smith Apple slices, but I didn't. They were tough and sour and I just wasn't a huge fan, maybe they'll be good for martinis. The Blueberry Almond Bites are a nice slightly sweet snack.

I like NatureBox, but I haven't been loving it as much lately. Let me know what you think of yours if you've tried it. I may start doing the custom boxes to get more of what I think I'll like,.

Le Métier de Beauté October: Peau Vierge

I'm so sorry that this post is late! UPS apparently delivered my package to my management office at my apartment instead of my apartment, so I only just got it.

This month's product is the lightening and brightening Peau Vierge Complexion Serum and Dark Spot Corrector. Usually I use medical grade products, but I'll be taking a break from it to try this out and see how it works.

This product is another amazing value in this subscription, it retails for $125 which means that in 3 months this box has paid for itself.

$10 off $25 at Julep

Julep already has a bunch of colors on sale, but get an additional $10 off a $25 or more purchase with code TENTEN.

Expires tonight at midnight Pacific time.

Go grab some new polish!

Fall Recipes: Apple Sauce

Call me blasphemous, but I don't love pumpkins. I know, I know, every New Englander is supposed to love pumpkin everything, I don't, sorry. For me, Fall is all about apples. Apple pie, apple cider, apple sauce, YUM! My best friend recently made me homemade applesauce and it was amazing, I couldn't believe how easy it was to make so I asked if I could share the recipe. Here it is!

I eat a lot of applesauce so I doubled it, it works just as well, but below is the original. I used gala apples, but I think any red apple will work well.

4 apples peeled, cored and chopped
3/4 cup water
1/4 white granulated sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and cover. Cook over medium for 20 minutes or until apples are tender. Remove from heat and mash with potato masher or fork (or if you're like me, a whisk) until at the desired consistency. I like mine a little chunky so I don't mash it long, you can make it smoother if you like.

October Julep Maven Box

Hey guys and happy October! To me this is officially the start of fall. September here was still fairly hot so it still felt like summer. October arrived with chilly weather and turning leaves. What else arrived? My Julep Maven Box. I've had kind of a craving for candy corn, but I only ever like a little bit and can never finish a whole bag. Oh Julep, you know me too well. I was done with their mini bag of candy corn before I even swatched the polishes, but it was perfect.

This month's beauty product was a Kajal Eye Glider in Carbon Black/Brown Shimmer with a sharpener. To be honest I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I've been really sick and my eyes have been very puffy so I haven't used any eye makeup for about a week.

When I opened the nail colors I was in love with Valerie at first sight. It's a gorgeous teal/blue/green color with a slight gold glitter it's a very duochrome shade. You can see in the pictures that it's not sure what color it wants to be and that's what makes it gorgeous. It's different depending on the light.

At first I was disappointed in Cleopatra. My first thought was: "Really Julep? You sent me a plain black polish?" But it's not. It's a black latex polish. The finish is like leather. I'm going to be comparing it to the Nails Inc leather polish later this month.

This month's box value was $50 and it only costs $19.99/month so that's a great deal!
